Is Avengers: Endgame the peak of what the MCU can achieve at the Box Office – MovieGainz Box Office Prediction

We’ll kick off our take on Avengers: Endgame box office run with our official predictions for its completed numbers:

Domestic:$875 million
Overseas: $1.95 billion
Worldwide: $2.87 billion

These numbers are incredible and Endgame is the only film in the last 10 years to have any REAL potential to dethrone Avatar from that top spot. While we are feeling pretty confident that it’ll topple Avatar, we remain pretty conservative in our predictions, despite seeing a potential to reach $3 billion. That will just have to wait to be seen, but for now we want to focus on whether the MCU has reached its peak at the box office. Overall, the discussions the three of us have had led us to the conclusion that the MCU won’t get a bigger movie than Avengers: Endgame (at least not until inflation catches up). The bankable characters and actors seem to have parted; now Marvel is setting the stage for newcomers to have their time, this however will have a minor effect on the box office appeal.

The Avengers box office

Marvel has a huge task of once again embarking on a journey with the fanbase that lets its audience slowly sink into the overarching narrative that will cover the next phase of the MCU. Adapting popular comic-book storylines such as Secret Wars or Avengers vs X-Men may be what we see next; but will the audience have the same reaction as they did to Avengers: Endgame? Can’t say at this point, but at this stage it seems very unlikely.

We are confident in stating that Avengers: Endgame is the peak of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in relation to the box office and in saying that, the peak of the superhero genre itself.

Film is subjective. Give us your thoughts!
