How will “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem” perform at the box office? In our long-range box office forecast, we are going to take a look at how it’ll take on the domestic and worldwide box office (see below).
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem
TMNT is a widely popular media franchise that has been very successful in different areas of pop culture. Films, however, are a much more complicated history with their highs and lows scattered from 1990 to the present day. The four anthropomorphic turtle brothers are back and this time portrayed through a unique animated lens – resembling more of their drawn comic-book look.

Even in the franchise’s best days, it has never been a franchise to hit over the $500M mark, unadjusted for inflation. Still, it does demonstrate that the rabid fan base doesn’t always convert to a successful box office performance. The franchise must go above and beyond to attract casual audiences.
“Mutant Mayhem” seems to do just that but will it work? We’ll have to see but everything seems lined up for some success for it. For starters, the film is animated so it can now attract a wider demographic of people including the lucrative family demographic. Secondly, animation and design inspired by “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” will assist the attractive factor to this. Finally, it has received widespread appraisal by critics (Currently 96% on Rotten Tomatoes). Tuesday pre-sales are around $5M or so which is impressive for a decent 5-day weekend under a $70-80M budget.
