Who doesn’t love a good most anticipated movie list? We here at MovieGainz sure love them so why not share with you all our Most Anticipated films of 2023.
10. Dune: Part Two
Following on from Dune: Part One, Denis Villeneuve is set to continue his story in this vast world with Dune: Part Two. While Dune: Part one may have felt a little incomplete you can certainly guarantee that Dune: Part Two will drive the story to a clearer path, and let’s not forget the newcomers Florence Pugh and Austin Butler.
9. Asteroid City
Wes Anderson’s next film is surely going to be a good one, in his typical style he has a star-studded cast featuring Margot Robbie, Scarlet Johansson, Tom Hanks, and Maya Hawke just to name a few. Little is known about this film so far but all we know is that a world-changing event changes the itinerary for a star/space gazing cadet academy.
8. Wonka
Timothée Chalamet as Willy Wonka, we see him in his younger years as he sets off on an adventure where he discovers the infamous Oompa-Loompas prior to opening his Chocolate Factory. Wonka will bring back its musical element for this film similar to Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.
7. Killers of the Flower Moon
The incredible duo of Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio are set to reunite once again and that alone should get you to see this film. Members of the Osage Tribe are mysteriously murdered in the 1920s which starts an FBI investigation into the murders. This film boasts a fantastic cast with Robert de Nero, Brendan Fraser, Jesse Plemons, and Lily Gladstone all set to appear.
6. Guardians of the Galaxy: Volume 3
James Gunn’s final hurrah at directing the Guardians of the Galaxy is most certainly going to be an emotional one. Judging by the first trailers it seems the stakes have been raised, lives will be put to the test and this could possibly be the last time we see the original Guardians together again. Volume 3 is set to feature Adam Warlock played by Will Poulter, a character fans have been clamouring for ever since Volume 1.
5. John Wick: Chapter 4
John Wick: Chapter 4 is only a few weeks away and will be the first film on our list to release this year. I think we all know what to expect from this film, jaw-dropping action sequences, flashy visuals, and a whole lot of John Wick badassery. I think we all know what to expect from Keanu Reeve’s performance in this film but the only question remains… can John Wick: Chapter 4 exceed the other films in this franchise.
4. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse
After the smash hit Into the Spider-Verse, the much-anticipated sequel releases this year. Bringing its unique comic book panel animation style that has reinvented the animation game, Across the Spider-Verse is not only going to be an excellent film but also a visual masterpiece.
3. Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One
Tom Cruise is flying high right now after his ballsy call to delay Top Gun: Maverick for cinema release only and it paid off wonderfully. We get the same here with Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One, we all know Tom will do his own stunts and there will be something absolutely unimaginable that is going to happen. I can honestly say that the wait is going to pay off when this film releases.
2. Barbie
Now this film sounds completely bonkers when you first see it but with Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach running the show you know we are in for something special. Margot Robbie is set to star as Barbie with Ryan Gosling portraying Ken, two quality actors, you just can’t help but feel this film is going to exceed expectations.
1. Oppenheimer
I mean of course Oppenheimer was going to be our most anticipated film of 2023…It’s Christopher Nolan of course!!! Oppenheimer looks set to be another great film in Nolan’s filmography, and let’s not forget this star-studded cast; Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt, Robert Downey Jr, and a whole lot more. You can most certainly expect Oppenheimer to blow people away… yes pun intended.
