Weekend Box Office Results - Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania

Weekend Box Office Results for February 24-26, 2023

Please find the Top 10 Box Office Results below.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania opened up to $105 million last weekend and that was a very solid opening, earning inside the industry expectations which was mostly on the high-end. However, the real concern was the longevity of its box office performance which has been a strong point for the MCU, as of late.

If the daily box office results warned us to be a little concerned for Quantumania then this weekend shows us that we should be massively concerned. It has a drop of 69.9% as it fell to $31.9 million which is one of the worst second-week declines in a while. This is the sharpest drop for an MCU title and easily the worst for the Ant-Man franchise. For comparison, Ant-Man and the Wasp fell 62% in its sophomore weekend and Ant-Man fell 56% in its sophomore weekend.

It is all speculation at this point but you can guarantee Marvel and Disney are a little concerned with the MCU at the box office and this will certainly add significant weight to that concern.

Cocaine Bear

Weekend Box Office Results for Cocaine Bear

Cocaine Bear is the grand surprise for the weekend – both in its critical reception and its box office performance. Opening at $23.2 million on 3,534 screens this weekend; it surpasses all industry expectations. With a budget of $30-35 million, Universal will certainly earn a nice bit of profit from the film.

It’s nice to see the box office market taking an interest in non-blockbuster films as it definitely helps to diversify the film release slate from movie studios.

Jesus Revolution

Jesus Revolution debuted to $15.8 million (!!!) on 2,475 screens in North America. A staggering opening weekend for a film that was tracking to open in the single digits. Comscore/Screen Engine’s PostTrak shows that a large portion of the were walk-ups and not buying their tickets ahead of release which indicates the missed tracking. Word of mouth should lead this film to a very healthy box office performance that Lionsgate should be happy with.
