Weekend Box Office Foreceast: The Super Mario Bros. Movie to Excel in its Third Weekend

For this weekend box office forecast, we note that April still has no signs of slowing down. With the new release Evil Dead Rise and the money-making machine that is The Super Mario Bros. Movie will surely carry this weekend for success at the box office.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie

Three weeks in and The Super Mario Bros. Movie has made $370 million domestically and $720 million worldwide. It is on great pace to crack $1 billion at the box office. The audience is clearly ignoring the critic’s reaction and reviews as the word of mouth continues to spread for this film and the box office run is showing no signs of slowing down. With no direct competition, The Super Mario Bros. Movie is looking to hold onto the #1 spot for the third weekend in a row, and if current projections are correct it would join the ‘third weekend over $60 million club’ where only six films have reached that milestone in its third weekend;  Avatar, Avatar: The Way of Water, Black Panther, Avengers: Endgame, Avengers: Infinity War and Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Evil Dead Rise

Evil Dead Rise appears to be the most promising among the new releases this weekend, with its strong appeal to fans of the franchise. The film’s pre-sales for Thursday’s preview launch are expected to be around $2 million, with a slight margin for error. Additionally, the film has garnered positive reviews from critics, with a 90% rating from 89 reviews so far on Rotten Tomatoes. Brand awareness for Evil Dead Rise is high among its target consumer base, which bodes well for its box office success. Fans of the franchise are eagerly anticipating the film’s release and are expected to turn out in droves to see it.
