Weekend Box Office Forecast: Barbenheimer Expected to Earn #1 & #2 Spot

In this weekend’s box-office forecast, we are going to take a look at how “Barbenheimer” will continue to steamroll to another strong weekend in their fourth frame. With only “The Last Voyage of the Demeter”  being the only newcomer this weekend – we’ll be focusing on Barbenheimer as well as “Meg 2: The Trench” and “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem”.

Barbie

Continue its tear to a historic run at the box office and on course to enter the top 10 all-time domestically. “Barbie” looks to win the weekend box office for a fourth consecutive frame. The weekend drops have been incredibly low dropping around that 43% mark and if it hit that, we’d see around $30-31M for a fourth weekend – for the 11th biggest fourth weekend ever. With no major releases stealing much screens, I say a drop a touch below that is more likely.

Oppenheimer

Similar to “Barbie’s” case, no major newcomer to steal screens or showtimes. It still has complete IMAX exclusivity which is making for a huge chunk of its current box office. Second weekend dropped at the 43% mark and the third weekend dropped 38.6%. I’d say it’ll be a very similar drop as last weekend to continue its strong run.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem

After an impressive 5-day debut of $43M, “TMNT” will look to hold on to its momentum following its strong reviews (96% on Rotten Tomatoes, 92% Audience Score) and it’s ‘A’ CinemaScore. Providing a compelling choice to families, we should see a sturdy hold for this flick.

Meg 2: The Trench

These genre-type films always have the same box office course – open big and fall off a cliff. I expect no less with “Meg 2: The Trench” as it is currently eating poor reviews with 28% on Rotten Tomatoes and an awful ‘B-’ CinemaScore. It’s sink or swim for this movie and I expect the former to come to fruition.
