In this weekend’s box-office forecast, we are going to take a look at how “Haunted Mansion” will fare against Barbenheimer as they will continue to steamroll to another huge weekend. With huge daily holds, the “Barbie” and “Oppenheimer” effect won’t be slowing down anytime soon. The box office will continue to be exciting this weekend.
Haunted Mansion

The supernatural comedy/horror film is hot off from its red carpet without its movie stars (due to SAF-AFTRA strikes) and is poised to be disappointing at the box office. What’s the main reason? Well it is the reason for so many box office bombs this summer and that is an unjustly high budget. The film sits at a $157.8M budget which is undoubtedly a huge risk for a supernatural horror movie – particularly one under the Disney umbrella.
M3GAN, The Boogeyman, Scream VI, Evil Dead Rise, and Insidious: The Red Door achieve box office success, indicating a demand in the genre. Pre-sales currently are tracking around the $4M mark indicating a weekend that can get around the $30M mark – a figure that would be welcomed under different circumstances. It is all relative so the opening weekend project can’t be looked at fondly under the incredibly high budget. Stealing a few Dolby sessions from its competitors will certainly help its case.
Barbenheimer

It is quite apparent that “Barbie” and “Oppenheimer” are going to rule the box office once again as they are destined to have leggy runs. Both films have been incredibly received as they both have an ‘A’ CinemaScore. “Barbie” has a 90% Rotten Tomatoes Critic Score and 88% Audience Rating while “Oppenheimer” has a 94% Critic Score and 93% Audience Rating. Hell, “Oppenheimer” is currently 21st on the IMDB Top 250 Films of all-time with over 156K ratings. If the weekend holds from Friday to Sunday alongside very high daily numbers in any condition of legs, expect another huge weekend.
Overall, it looks like the entire domestic box office could exceed a total of $200M in its total for the sixth time this year.
