Physical Media – John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum 4K Movie Review

John Wick is back and better than ever in the third installment of this action-packed franchise! John Wick: Chapter 3 Parabellum’s 4K/UHD physical media disc boasts incredible visuals that will leave you in awe, and fight scenes so intense that some of the kills will make you cringe and wince, Chad Stahelski’s John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum is a must-watch for fans of the franchise and the action genre. If you thought the first two movies could not be topped, just wait until you see this one on 4K Ultra HD with Dolby Vision HDR and a demo Dolby Atmos soundtrack!

Let’s start to dissect the visuals for this 4K disc, The 2160p picture quality is simply gorgeous. Thanks to Dolby Vision HDR, the brightness levels have been drastically improved, which really makes the action scenes pop. The blacks are also rich and velvety, with excellent gradation between the shades. This means that even nighttime sequences are easy to follow, with strong visibility of background information. Of course, there are a few poorly-lit interiors, but this is intentional and only adds to the moodiness of the film. Overall, the 2.40:1 image is excellent with a gorgeous cinematic appeal and appreciable depth.

The contrast has also been given a boost, which is particularly noticeable in daylight exteriors and various light fixtures when indoors. And let’s not forget about the specular highlights, which are crisper and more radiant than ever. This means that even the smallest details are easily visible, like the individual LED bulbs in the rope lights during the conversation with Berrada. And then there are the dynamic colors! The Dolby Vision presentation boasts a near-cartoonish array of vibrant, spirited hues that really make the on-screen violence and hand-to-hand combat come to life. The colors are a feast for the eyes, from hot fuschia pinks to deep lilac purples, and fiery marigold oranges to vibrant reds.

The visuals are not the only fantastic aspect of this disc, just wait until you hear the Dolby Atmos soundtrack. This is the best track in the series and is of outstanding service to home theaters. Right from the start, the sound design makes excellent use of the entire soundscape, with action sequences being the most memorable. Rain pours down from overhead, bullets smoothly pan in every direction, and the echo of motorcycle engines reverberate all around you. Even quieter scenes are enveloping thanks to several subtle atmospherics. Meanwhile, the front soundstage is continuously busy and highly engaging, allowing the score of Tyler Bates and Joel J. Richard plenty of room to breathe and generate an awesome half-dome wall of sound. Background activity is near-constant, delivering a wealth of sounds and several understated noises that convincingly occupy the entire screen while vocals are always precise and well-prioritized. And let’s not forget about the low-end, which supplies a powerfully robust and palpable oomph to the music, gunfire, and every cringe-inducing damage to the body with excellent depth and weight.

So if you’re a fan of thrilling and adrenaline-inducing action movies, John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum is a must-watch and must-own. The visuals are stunning, the fight scenes are intense, and the Dolby Atmos soundtrack is out of this world and with a run time of 2 hours 23 minutes of pure sheer excitement, you’ll be chomping at the bit to hit play on this heart-stopping adventure! i would 100% recommend buying this physical media 4K/UHD copy of John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum.
